Circle K has been a wonderful experience for me at Muskingum
University. I love volunteering, and Circle K was a perfect match for me.
Muskingum University might be a small University but it has the most Circle K
members. I do a lot of clubs and activities at Muskingum but this club is one
of my favorites. I can enjoy what I like to do, help others out, make friends, and
be active. I did a lot of volunteering in Middle school and High school, and I
wanted to continue volunteering. One of the volunteering experiences I enjoy
most that we do multiple times each year is going to the Beckett house. The
Beckett house is a retirement home. We go there and just hang out and play with
the old folks. I have a blast, and I made a new friend in Jason. Circle K does
a lot of other fun volunteering projects including walking dogs at the Guernsey
Animal Shelter, clean up campus, and raking leaves. I have actually put my two
cents in about what I think we should do and Chelsea, the president, thought it
was a great idea. We did an Epilepsy Awareness day for the first year. As a
person with epilepsy and knowing how serious it is, I feel like this was
something that needed to come out. Also,
November is Epilepsy Awareness Month so I felt like if we were going to raise
Epilepsy Awareness, this was a month we were going to do it. We handed out
lavender ribbons, the color of epilepsy awareness and a little baggie filled
with facts about epilepsy and a couple of other things. It was such a wonderful
time and I hope we continue it. Christ’s kitchen is another one of those fun
things we do where we volunteer and help the less fortunate. It is a fun thing
to do serving people and helping out. We
work with the Kawanians, another club, and we have cookout with them. We grow
closer with them and as a club. They give us money to pay off our fees and give
us money to do some of our volunteering activities. Over the years, we have
grown in numbers as a club, and we have also grown closer as a club. We hang
out more together, eating dinner together as a club, and movie night as a
group. It is a club that I hope to do more with now and in the future.
